The Coming Of The Fairies- Arthur Conan Doyle

£500.00

Published in 1922, this first editon by Sherlock Holmes author, Arthur Conan Doyle, examined the famous Cottingley Fairy photos. Like many people in the period following the first world war, Conan Doyle was interested in spiritualism and 'other worldly' phenomena. Years later (in the 1980s), the photos (originally taken by two young girls) were revealed as fake. But interest in this 'charming' story endures.

I have two first editions (one featured here), plus a copy of Frank Gardner's: 'Fairies: The Cottingley Photos and Their Sequel' (1st edition, 1945). Gardner's book is £190. Doyle's book is £500 (this one) & £450.
